SojoCircles were developed in response to readers who asked for resources to help understand how to be voices of conscience as bombs fell in Afghanistan and as fear threatened to become a way of life in the U.S. After the devastating events of September 11, many people felt the need to find safe places to share feelings and ideas and to express fears and hopes. These bi-weekly or monthly study circles provide an alternative forum for people to discuss issues of politics, faith, and culture that arise from the pages of Sojourners, SojoMail, and the Sojourners resources. SojoCircles are meant to help readers build spiritual and nurturing communities within churches, in local areas, and on college campuses. It is our hope that these communities will provide that type of sustenance and, in turn, create vehicles from which real social change can emerge.
