The Common Good

The City Club of San Diego: "On God's Side"

May 1, 2013 - 12:00pm
Speaker: Jim Wallis

New York Times bestselling author Jim Wallis thinks our life together can be better. In his latest book, On God’s Side: What Religion Forgets and Politics Hasn’t Learned About Serving the Common Good (Brazos Press, 2013), Jim shows us how to reclaim Jesus’ ancient and compelling vision of the common good—a vision that impacts and inspires not only our politics but also our personal lives, families, churches, neighborhoods, and world. He thinks it’s time to ask what it means to be on God’s side, rather than claim God to be on ours.

On Wednesday, May 1, the City Club of San Diego will host a noontime luncheon at which Jim Wallis will speak about his latest book, On God's Side. The event is sponsored by Point Loma Nazarene University, and will be hosted by La Jolla Country Day School.

Tickets for the luncheon are $30 for City Club members and La Jolla Country Day School parents, and $40 for all others. The price for the luncheon includes an autographed copy of On God's Side.

The City Club of San Diego is dedicated to the dialogue of democracy. That core belief was inherent in The City Club's creation in 1975 and remains, 37 years later, the organization’s fundamental principle. In faithful observance of that commitment, The City Club has presented more than 1,000 programs in the public interest.
