Sojourners is pleased to announce an opening for Development Associate. We seek an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to fill this entry-level position as soon as possible. The Development Associate is responsible for managing the flow of donor contributions, including recording gifts into the database and ensuring that prompt acknowledgement letters are sent; handling all state registration renewals; and providing the accounting department with revenue information as requested. The Sojourners’ Development Office is made up of dynamic and passionate staff who are central to Sojourners’ work.
DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data entry of donations received via mail.
Prepare and send acknowledgments and correspondence to donors.
Weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly uploads of gift data from external sources into development database.
Manage organization’s registration renewal applications for charitable organization status in various states.
With CDO’s guidance, prepare departmental meeting agendas.
Manage workplace giving programs.
Manage supply of letterhead, stamps, and other office supplies for the department.
Update monthly timesheet data for CFO and Director of Foundation Relations.
Assist with reporting and data collection for the annual audit.
Prepare Payment Request Forms for Development Department expenses.
Provide special project support for the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Foundation Relations, and Director of Major Gifts as appropriate at supervisor’s request.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, office experience, and ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
Experience in nonprofit development office a plus.
Strong preference for a candidate with experience in donor database or CRM, particularly Raisers Edge.
