  • Harper’s magazine reported in January that the Miller Brewing Company spends $150,000 each year to endow its Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund—and $300,000 to promote it.
  • The Australian government implemented this winter a new, compulsory rating system for video games, including rating labels that will restrict the most violent and sexually explicit games to those over 17 years old.
  • A group of women in the Church of the Brethren have decided to no longer use the denomination’s name, and are instead using the title Church of Reconciliation. According to Christianity Today, a denomination spokesperson said that recently "a committee was appointed to study whether a committee should be appointed to study" a change in the denomination’s name.
