The Long Loneliness

AS THE AUTHOR of Sojourners' "Life in Community" column, I must take exception to Ed Spivey's remarks about my lifestyle in his January-February 1996 "H'rumphs." He said that I live alone in a one-room apartment in Newark and only go out to buy TV Guide and lottery tickets. That's wrong. My apartment has two rooms, and I regularly buy People magazine. Where else would I get the material for those nifty essays on community?
