VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Short-term cross-cultural volunteer expeditions are available through the Global Citizens Network (GCN). Volunteers are invited to build, teach, and connect with indigenous people of Belize, Guatemala, Kenya, St. Vincent, the Yucatan, and New Mexico. Group workcamps need adult volunteers willing to donate one week of their time every summer helping teen-agers repair homes for elderly, disabled, and needy residents across America and Mexico. Travel, training, room, and board are provided. Call Patricia Smith, 1-800-635-0404, ext. 4478.

Discipleship Year is a program for people drawn to live and work in association with the Jubilee Ministries and the Church of the Saviour. Participants volunteer full time for a local Washington, D.C. ministry while focusing on intentional Christian living and being in relationship with people who are excluded from our society. Samaritan Inns, a residential program for persons recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, has one-year volunteer opportunities for resident managers. Volunteers are invited to participate in community life within servant leadership ministries. Room, board, health insurance, and stipend are provided.
