  • Signing Off.   • Storm Shelter? Service agencies are receiving requests for aid from former combat veterans in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a National Coalition for Homeless Veterans survey. Veterans make up 33 percent of homeless men and 23 percent of the U.S. homeless population, according to federal data on homelessness.

  • Rock of Ages. After first rejecting it, Rolling Stone magazine decided to run an ad for a new Bible translation, Today's New International Version, published by Zondervan, the largest U.S. Bible publisher. Rolling Stone's decision was announced after some internal controversy about supporting a "religious message."

  • Traffic Stop. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched the Rescue and Restore Victims of Human Trafficking campaign last April. The project is supported by a broad coalition of organizations, including Evangelicals for Social Action, Catholic Charities, YMCA International, and Sojourners.
