A bombing in Turkey's capital, Ankara, on Feb. 17 killed at least 28 and injured 61 others, according to Turkish news organization TRTWORLD.

Turkish officials suspect terrorism.

Both soldiers and civilians were killed in the attack, according to government spokesperson Numan Kurtulumus, who also called the attack well planned.

TRTWORLD reports:

The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) earlier confirmed that a bomb-laden vehicle targeted a military convoy, calling the incident "an act of terrorism."

Issuing a written statement immediately after the attack, the TAF said that the explosion targeted military service buses as they were waiting at traffic lights.

The bombing reportedly took place at the height of evening rush hour between the buildings of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and Turkish Air Force Command in Ankara.

These attacks follow two other suicide bombings in Turkey in recent months — one in October that killed more than 100 people in Ankara, and another in January that killed 10 people in Istanbul. Both of those bombings were blamed on the Islamic State.

Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, issued a statement on Feb. 17 denouncing the attacks in Ankara.

“We will continue our fight against the pawns that carry out such attacks, which know no moral or humanitarian bounds, and the forces behind them with more determination every day," he said.

Please pray for the families of those killed in Ankara.
