Fine Timing

Last night in the theology class I teach on peace and justice, I said there were better ways than military intervention to solve the problems in Darfur and Congo, and mentioned Liberia and Sierra Leone as evidence. The December Sojourners arrived today, with John Prendergast’s fine articles on those four countries (“Continent of Hope: Respect, democracy, and diplomacy should guide U.S. engagement with Africa”). I’ve just e-mailed the respective Web links to all my students. Thanks for that eloquent support—and your awesome sense of timing!
