Politics and the Clock

A poem.

We enter your home with a fist
Full of reasons & contradictions
A melodious clock is ticking
Candy-apple elves go round
And round on the hour and half-hour
“Let It Be” bells play on light
Windows partially closed
But the front door is always
Open for any elephant or donkey
To enter in — and we do
Friends know which is who
And When the night is dark
We sing with invisible ink
