"we've come a long way inspired by Pope Francis’ love for migrants,” says Andrea, left, a pilgrim who walked to D.C. from a detention center in Pennsylvania with the #100Women100Miles campaign. And this morning, Pope Francis told Congress they should love foreigners, too. “We, the people of this continent, are not fearful of foreigners, because most of us were once foreigners,” said Francis. “I say this to you as the son of immigrants.” His remarks echoed Exodus 22—don’t oppress foreigners, God told Israel, for you yourselves were once foreigners. As for Andrea, the march is over, but there’s still a lot to do: the women will march the 11th of every month to remind the world of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. But first, said Andrea, she’s going home to rest. “I want to see my kids.
